Techno Mathematical and Toshiba Group has announced to start releasing
MP3 software that works on Toshiba's 32 bits CISC processor with low power consumption.

== Supporting audio decoding function for electronic dictionary or portable music player ==

   

Techno Mathematical Co., Ltd. (referred to as "TMC" below) has succeeded in optimizing MP3 Decoder software, which has been developed by utilizing TMC's original mathematical Algorithm "DMNA" (Digital Media New Algorithm), for Toshiba's 32 bit CISC micro controller "TLCS900/H1". MP3 (MPEG-1/MPEG-2 Audio Layer V) is presently used all over the world as standard for encoding/decoding of high quality audio format. It was said that only DSP or RISC could operate MP3 decoding.

Thanks to success of optimization of MP3 decoder software for Toshiba's CISC micro controller "TLCS900/H1 series" by using DMNA, which has been developed by TMC, Software decoding of MP3 can be easily realized on CISC platform without changing hardware architecture.

TMC's MP3 Decoder software using original algorithm "DMNA" has following features. E CPU load will become lower by reduction of total number of operations by mathematical theories. E Operating frequency is low, and stable operation can be realized even under restricted memory environment. E Higher flexibility, non-depending on processor and OS, because program is written in standard C language.

Toshiba's "TLCS900/H1 series" is high speed 32 bit CPU micro controller that has realized lower power consumption and higher performance. It has high market share in the market of portable equipment such as electronic dictionary etc. It has high speed 900/H1 core developed under 0.18um process, and combined with TMC's software without any additional hardware. It must help portable products with music / voice decoding function to achieve its cost lower and size smaller.

From now on, Techno Mathematical Co., Ltd. will keep introducing this software under collaboration with Toshiba Corporation and Toshiba LSI system support Co., Ltd. Target market will be Japan and Asia Pacific, where demand for electric dictionary is increasing, and extend it all over the world.

* The revolutionary algorithm DMNA utilizing mathematical methods has simplified various operations. By combining mathematical methods such as 1 - 5 examples blow : Factorization, lapel operation, hierarchical structure and others, we have succeeded in removing all the tedious calculations in the algorithm, such as DCT and ME, and so have significantly reduced the operation load.
