With the spread of 4K/8K broadcasting and streaming services, the demand for high-quality video distribution is increasing. To meet this market demand, TMC offers multi-codec hardware IP that supports H.265/HEVC and H.264/AVC, which are video compression and decompression standards standardized by ISO/IEC.This product supports up to 8K60fps and enables high-precision video processing, including YCbCr4:2:2 and 12-bit depth. In addition, features such as ROI (Region of Interest), variable bitrate, and variable framerate control enable flexible compression management tailored to video content, achieving both high image quality and compression efficiency. These features can optimize compression performance on their own, but they are especially well-suited for integration with AI engines. When combined with AI-based content analysis, they allow for even greater improvements in compression efficiency while maintaining high-resolution image quality.Furthermore, TMC’s proprietary compression technology reduces memory bandwidth usage, and multi-channel support contributes to overall system efficiency. These advantages make the product ideal not only for digital cameras and broadcasting equipment, but also for a wide range of video processing applications, including drones and surveillance cameras.
The demand for high-resolution imaging beyond 4K continues to grow across medical diagnostic equipment, broadcasting systems, and surveillance cameras. This trend creates challenges in maintaining high image quality while improving data transfer speeds and reducing storage costs.TMC’s JPEG XS IP cores address these challenges through:– FPGA-optimized dedicated designs– Ultra-low latency real-time processing– Versatile implementation options for diverse applications– Two specialized versions: Standard and Performance-orientedTMC’s JPEG XS IP maximizes the advantages of FPGAs and helps customers improve the competitiveness of their products.
H.264/AVC encoder/decoder have been used in a wide range of the fields such as digital cameras, surveillance cameras, and broadcasting equipment since the specification was standardize in 2003, but nowadays, in order to downsize the equipment, reduce the costs, and consider the environment, there is a need to implement them in smaller devices with low power consumption.TMC has developed a compact, low-power encoder/decoder that maintains high image quality and performance.
In the field of video, the amount of data to be processed is exploding with higher resolutions and frame rates. In particular, with the spread of 5G transmission lines, there is a growing need for low latency in remote control, automated driving, virtual reality, and other applications. To meet these diverse needs, TMC has developed JPEG XS, a visually lossless and low latency mezzanine compression algorithm. JPEG XS is ideal not only for transmission of video content, but also for compression and transmission of high-resolution images in remote sensing. It enables fast and efficient transmission of large-volume satellite and drone images without any loss of image quality. The low latency of JPEG XS is also essential for real-time monitoring and analysis.TMC’s JPEG XS IP can be used in a wide variety of fields, including video production, broadcasting, and telemedicine.
In transcribing the minutes of a meeting from the recording or in a human-machine interface by voice command, ambient voice or noise may make it difficult to hear the desired voice clearly. For this reason, needs for technology that emphasizes only audio in a specific direction is increasing. There is an alternative solution to use a directional microphone, but the cost and size are major issues.TMC has developed and commercialized a software IP that realizes high-quality sound by beam forming and reducing the ambient noise by noise suppressor for the sound picked up by two inexpensive omnidirectional microphones.
H.265/HEVC is a video compression/decompression standard that has been standardized by ISO/IEC. H.265/HEVC, which has a higher compression ratio compare to the current mainstream MPEG2 or H.264/AVC, is expected to become the standard for 4K (3840×2160 pixels) TV broadcasting, which has four times the number of pixels of Full HD that is widely used in ordinary TVs, as well as for high-definition video distribution and video services for mobile devices with limited bandwidth. There are high expectations for H.265/HEVC.TMC has developed a compact, low-power encoder/decoder that maintains high image quality and performance.
A rapid increasing of the image resolution and the amount of data handled by a processor engine cause issues in not only high-class digital cameras but also mobile terminals .Image data are generally compressed to reduce the amount of data, but there is a need for technology that suppresses the deterioration of image quality and processes at high speed.TMC has developed the high-resolution lossless / near lossless compression technology which have been used for many years for sensor images of digital cameras, and has commercialized a very compact and high-speed compression IP.
TMC’s original compression algorithm enables to compress and decompress the images to fixed-length with completely independent small block units. By using this technology, the memory capacity, data transmission bandwidth, and power consumption required for image data processing can be significantly reduced.
When making a call using a microphone and a speaker, such as in video conferencing systems and in-vehicle hands-free calling systems, the sound (echo) from the speaker to the microphone interferes with the call, and this echo needs to be eliminated. In addition, since ambient noise is often input to the microphone in such systems, noise reduction processing is also required.TMC has developed and commercialized a software IP that reduces echoes and noise to enable calls with high speech intelligibility. It is also useful as pre-processing for speech recognition during music playback.
Video creation software that meet various demands from high-quality video content to video content that can be played on devices with low processing power.
JPEG 2000 Software IP is an image compression/decompression software compliant to the JPEG 2000 standard (a highly efficient still image compression standardized in ISO/IEC 15444-1).JPEG 2000 is used in various fields such as natural images, scientific images, medical images, computer graphics, etc.It is possible to convert an image data to various resolutions, such as compact or normal resolution images for cell phones, and even high resolution images for printing.
H.264/AVC is a video compression/decompression Standard standardized by ISO/IEC in 2003, and since then, it has been used in a wide range of fields including digital cameras, surveillance cameras, and broadcasting equipment. Nowadays, in order to downsize the equipment, reduce the costs, and consider the environment, there is a need for smaller encoders and decoders with low power consumption.TMC has developed a compact, low-power encoder/decoder that maintains high image quality and performance.
In audiobooks and language learning, there has long been a need not only for the ability to listen to audio files faster or slower, but also for the ability to change the playback speed without changing the pitch of the voice for easier listening.TMC has developed and commercialized a software IP that minimizes the change in voice height when the playback speed changes, and enables playback of voices close to the original pitch for easy listening.
When using a device that uses voice, ambient noise may reduce the speech intelligibility and the recognition rate in voice recognition. There is some solution to use multiple microphones to emphasize the desired voice, but from the viewpoint of cost and installation space, there is a strong need to reduce the noise with a single microphone.TMC has developed and commercialized a software IP that estimates the constant sound as noise and reduce it, improves the voice recognition rate by improving SNR (signal-to-noise ratio), and improves the voice intelligibility in conversation.
AES, an encryption algorithm replacing DES, was established in 2000 and is still used as a data concealment technology.TMC has developed a high-speed AES and commercialized it as an IP. TMC’s AES is certified by NIST CAVP.
Since its standardization of ISO/IEC 10918-1 in 1994, JPEG has been continued to be used as a still image storage format.TMC has developed and commercialized a baseline JPEG hardware IP compliant to the ISO/IEC 10918-1 standard as a very compact and high-speed compression IP.
When making a conversation in outdoor and recording, or shooting a motion using a microphone, the microphone picks up the wind sound which makes difficulty to hear the voice. Attaching a windshield sponge to a microphone could be a solution to avoid such wind noise, but it cannot be applied to a smartphone. As the wind sound hits the microphone has many low frequency components, it may be effective to suppress the low frequency components with a high-pass filter. However, this method suppresses the low frequency components of the sound even when the wind is not blowing.TMC has developed a software IP that detects the wind noise in real time and instantly reduces the wind noise only when the noise is detected.
This software is compliant to MP4 file format (ISO/IEC 14496-14) and 3GPP file format (3GPP TS 26.244).
